Which is worse, when a good friend moves away, or losing touch with a good friend who lives right near you?

Now, I've had both of these things happen to me. I occasionally lose touch with friends who live in the same town. I mostly accept this as the normal cycle of life, and wait for the tides to turn.
I think the much worse occurrence is when good friends move away. People you love and are used to spending all your time with. People you grow comfortable with and share a lot of the same interests as. People you wish could be around to share your daughter's life. On the plus side, there's this wonderful thing called the internet which allows you to stay in touch so much easier with friends who move away.
