7 Random Things:

Sandi tagged anyone that was interested...and it's not like I'm really doing anything. :)

1. I haven't had or used an alarm clock in years...I just use my phone.

2. I hate being late for anything. I don't even like being on time. I would much rather prefer to be early. This has been a source of frustration being married to B, because he doesn't seem to care. Being punctual is not a priority for him. We're just 2 different people when it comes to time.

3. My family didn't have a computer with internet access until I was in college. I didn't have a cell phone until my senior year of college. I didn't get a car when I got my license, and when my parents did buy me a car it only cost $550. I am amazed and appalled sometimes with all the things that parents just give their kids nowadays. (Oh yeah...we didn't have air conditioning either.)

4. B had all these plans and ideas on how he wanted to propose and I ruined them all. B was visiting for a week after we had just gotten out of Harding for Christmas break. One of the Lord of the Rings movies was coming out Wednesday. I wanted to make sure that we had tickets so we went to Champaign Tuesday night. My parents had also given us gift certificates to a restaurant so I suggested since we were in Champaign we should use them Tuesday night. B's original intent (I think) was to take me out to dinner somewhere and then propose. However, as of Tuesday night he hadn't asked for my dad's blessing yet. (He asked on Wednesday; also, he had wanted to propose on Thursday). He didn't want to ask me to go out to dinner again and risk me being suspicious (because really, I had no clue). So we stayed in Thursday night and rented a movie. He let me pick the movie: Legally Blonde. So, the night that my husband proposed to me, I made him watch Legally Blonde. I'm awesome!!! Everything turned out fine because I kinda like that he proposed in the middle of my living room in the house I grew up in.

5. I'm a pretty musical person. I've played the flute since I was fourth grade. In high school, I marched the piccolo. My sophomore year, I was asked to either play the clarinet or trombone for concert band. I chose trombone because I had access to one (I have since forgotteni most of the positions since the last time I played - my freshmen year of college - in which I was in Harding's jazz band.) I was in choir from 5th - 11th grade. I did not participate my senior year because I wanted to be in jazz band. I did 3 musical revues in high school. I was in Madrigals in high school, complete with Madrigal dinners (costumes, food, singing). I sang with the University singers at Harding for 1 1/2 years. I learned to play piano my senior year of high school. Hopefully soon, I will have my piano in my house and will be able to pick that back up. When I started Harding, I was a music major. However, with classes and lessons and practice, I was not enjoying music as I once did and changed majors.

6. I was pretty athletic growing up, but was only average at best at sports. I went to a K-8 school and sports started in 5th grade. For 4 years I was a cheerleader in the fall, played basketball in the winter, and ran track in the spring (and did long jump). My freshmen year of high school, I played bball and was like 3rd string. I quit after that. In 10th grade I went out for track and struggled through a season in which I realized that after going through puberty I just couldn't run anymore. So my junior and senior years I threw discus and shot put. I played softball during the summers for 4 years. I quit after getting hit in the face twice in the same season.

7. I can't curl my own hair with a curling iron. Whenever I try I just end up putting kinks in my hair. :(

I loved learning more about you, Rachel! I was similar to you in athletics -- in jr. high I was a cheerleader, played basketball, and ran track (hurdles -- I was pretty bad at that but pretty good at b-ball). In high school, I just ran track and got more involved in music and drama.

I love how you kept foiling B's proposal plans. Poor guy!

On number 3....did you have to walk to school, up hill, both ways, in 10 feet of snow? ;) Sry Rach I just couldn't resist. Please tell everyone (both at FRCC and WJHS) that I said hello.
