I get to make my special Cap'n Crunch chicken on Friday. I can't wait. It's so yummy! Tomorrow I have a softball game. I'm pretty much expecting to suck, but that's ok. I guess. As long as I don't get hit in the face. This seems like a pretty good time for my softball story from the summer before my freshmen year of high school. I had played softball every summer for about four years. The summer before my freshmen year was no different. My team was pretty good too. We weren't the best, but we were close. I was warming up with Kori before our game. It was sunny out too and I didn't have any sunglasses. We thought we'd switch it up and throw pop flies to each other. Bad idea. Kori threw the ball up into the air. I looked up and saw...the sun. The ball came down and hit me right on the bridge of my nose. I started bleeding all over my yellow uniform, and I was fine until they told me I couldn't play because of the blood. Then I got upset. I got better (after going on vacation and being in a wedding) and we were going to play that same team again. I remember being excited to get to play them because a girl I went to school with was on that team. Well, I got to play this game. Our normal pitcher wasn't pitching (for some reason) so our third baseman was pitching. And let me tell you, this girl had a freakin' arm. Yikes. So, I was playing third (and I was also wearing my glasses.) Near the end of the game, the play was at third and the batter hits the ball to the pitcher. She turns around and guns the ball at me. The ball hits the top of my glove and rolls off of it right into my face. It caught the bottom of my glasses and my cheek. Ouch. Hit in the face twice in the same summer against the same team. I didn't play softball again outside of PE until I was in college.
